Erectile dysfunction, also known as ED, is the inability of a male to obtain or sustain an erection that is sufficient for sexual intercourse.
Almost half of all men experience ED on occasionally, but the condition may also be persistent. ED can have physical, psychological, or drug-related causes. The majority of researchers and doctors now believe that physical factors are responsible for most cases of ED.
Several conditions may aggravate the ED by restricting blood flow to the penis. These include atherosclerosis, hypothyroidism, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and alcohol abuse.
